CDO Virtual Mockathon: Alumni Volunteers Needed

October 30th, 2015

The Yale School of Management Career Development Office (CDO) invites all alumni to participate in the Virtual Mockathon program this December. The goal of the program is to provide students with an opportunity to have a 30 minute virtual (FaceTime/Skype/Google Hangout/etc.) mock interview with an alumnus in their area of interest. The will allow students to gain valuable feedback from alumni and sharpen their interviewing skills for internship interviews this spring.

If you are able to participate, the CDO asks that you be available to conduct a 30 minute virtual interview with four students between Wednesday, December 2nd and Tuesday, December 8th. During each interview, you would fill out a simple behavioral interview rubric with your feedback and interview the student. The rubric is based on the following criteria:

--Interviewee’s response to “tell me your story”
--Responses to four (4) behavioral questions of your own choosing
--General feedback about interviewee’s response to your industry focused question(s)
--General interaction assessment – was the interviewee poised, composed, confident, friendly, etc.?

Students will sign up for mock interview slots with alumni and company of their choice over the Thanksgiving recess. The four students who sign up for a mock interview with you will begin reaching out on Monday, November 30th to begin scheduling their interview times with you for the following week.

The alumni time commitment is estimated to be a total of 4 hours over the week period between initially scheduling the virtual mock interviews, conducting four (4) 30 minute mock interviews, and then emailing the completed rubric to each student as follow-up.

If you are interested and able to participate or would like more information please email Amy Voth ( by Wednesday, November 11th.
