Two groups of SOM entrepreneurs won awards in Carrot Capital's "Up to the Challenge" Business Plan Competition last Saturday in New York City. Both teams had business plans, created in Prof. David Cromwell's Entrepreneurship Class, that were selected for live presentations to judges. Carrot Capital Business Plan Challenge is a nationwide business plan competition geared towards helping student entrepreneurs get their businesses funded.
In keeping with the SOM tradition, the 2002 SOM Olympics are underway. These hotly contested games allow 1st year and 2nd year aggression to duke it out in a winner-take-all battle of the classes. More students are currently needed to volunteer as coordinators for individual events.
A monitor has been placed in the breakout room, B35a. This is a 17 inch flat panel display. I have seen people trying to gather around a single laptop monitor while working in groups. This display will allow a group to view the same laptop screen more comfortably.
At the end of the semester many students find that they need to find quick sources of tabular data to support a point in a presentation or paper. Data in Excel format on corporate finance, population statistics and industry market share are just a few clicks away.
