It is with great pleasure that I write to you from the Dean's Desk of the inaugural issue of the electronic Alumni newsletter. This e-news is one of a series of new programs we developed over the summer with the guidance of the Yale SOM Alumni Association Board and the SOMAA. Our goal is to increase the quality of communication and level of services we offer our alumni.
This first edition of the Global Alumni Network News and Events is one important manifestation of the partnership that has grown in recent years between the independent Alumni Association and the administration of the School itself. Two years ago we saw the need for a electronic newsletter geared to meet the interests and needs of the alumni, and board member, Randall Johnson, undertook the creation and implementation of that newsletter. We are very pleased that the Alumni Affairs office is taking over this effort from us, and see it as a perfect example of the Board identifying a need and the School responding effectively to it.
The new digital copiers run off a computerized system (called uniprint) driven by your NetID. In order to use the copiers, you will need credit money to your print account. The below link will fill you in on the details of how to do this using your SFAS (bursar) account, a credit card, cash or check. Click on SOM Students to see the FAQ.
The key to the program is a "unique, tamper-proof patented plate, with barcode and indelible tattoo - a simple, inexpensive solution to three major problems associated with overseeing office equipment: theft prevention, equipment recovery and asset tracking."
Each fall there are opportunities for students to apply for spots on SOM committees. Listed below are the committees -- with their faculty Chairs and general purposes. The application and selection processes are somewhat different for each committee, and all will welcome your interest.
