Professor Paul Bracken, who specializes in strategy and technology issues, was recently a featured columnist in two leading technology and business publications. In the September/October 2002 issue of Alchemy magazine, Professor Bracken explained how knowledge management (KM) can be advantageous when used as a tool for specific payoffs rather than a force for organizational transformation.
Yale SOM Professor Jonathan Ingersoll, Adrian C. Israel Professor of International Trade and Finance, has been named the 2002 IAFE/SunGard Financial Engineer of the Year by SunGard Trading and Risk Systems, an operating group of SunGard, and the International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE). The award will be presented to Professor Ingersoll on February 4, 2003, at the United Nations in New York City during IAFE's annual Financial Engineer of the Year awards dinner.
Ed Kaplan presented his work modeling alternative bioterror response policies to a special gathering of government, military, and health experts at the National Institutes of Health on April 30. He will be a plenary speaker on this topic at upcoming conferences of the National Science Foundation's Center for Discrete Mathematics and Computer Science, the Canadian Operations Research Society, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
