Forte Foundation: Alumnae Peer Group Advisors Needed

January 19th, 2017

As you may know, Yale SOM is a sponsor of the Forté Foundation.  One of Forté’s many excellent programs is Forté MBALaunch for Women, a hands-on, high-touch program designed to increase the number of women getting an MBA.  Forté’s goal is to move participants from interest in the MBA to application.  The program will provide women with the resources and inspiration they need to overcome any barriers to pursuing an MBA.  MBALaunch includes a one-day live kick-off event, a 3-month GMAT preparation module, monthly application webinars, opportunities to connect with application experts one-on-one, and peer group interactions with an experienced advisor (you!).

Forté has launched the 2017 program for 556 participants in eight cities including: Boston, Chicago, Houston, London, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington D.C. and are also offering virtual and in-person groups for women who live outside of these cities.  Admission to MBALaunch is selective—participants apply to join the program.  In their interactions with the MBALaunchers so far, they have found a highly talented and engaged group of women.

Forté Needs Your Expertise!
They are currently seeking MBA Alumnae who want to give back and share their advice on navigating the MBA application process by serving as a Peer Group Advisor.  Peer Group Advisors are a key element and a differentiator from other Forté programs.  Their belief is that the attention, feedback, and expectations that come from a successful Advisor relationship will help drive participant success.  And their hope is that you—the advisors—will enjoy the opportunity and experience as well.

Expectations for Peer Group Advisors
Peer Group Advisors are asked to join one "Jam Session" peer group meeting monthly, February – October (total of 9 meetings).  Each month, Jam Sessions will be scheduled by one of the peer group Launchers and will have a designated topic around the MBA application process. Forté will provide short online training sessions and monthly meeting agenda templates.

Volunteer as a Peer Group Advisor
Forté is committed to filling up MBA classrooms with more women, but they need your help. To volunteer as a Peer Group Advisor, please complete this form by Wednesday, January 25th.

After you have completed the form, the MBALaunch team will review your information and make Peer Group Advisor assignments.  Krystal Brooks, Forté’s Associate Director of Early Career Women, will reach out to you with final Advisor assignments and more information in mid-February.

If you have questions about the Peer Group Advisor program or commitment in the meantime, please email Krystal Brooks who is overseeing the MBALaunch Program.

Thank you in advance for your time and we hope you will consider this great opportunity to give back!
